just diy | how to make a spooky halloween wreath

Dear friends, JUSTDIY’s favorite season is finally here! It’s almost Halloween and the place will be filled with skeletons and spiders! This year, I took the whole Halloween thing a step further and I did some half skull make up for my video.

Today I am making a decorative Halloween wreath, just a bit scary, a bit ugly but definitely suitable for the occasion!

To make a similar one, you’ll need:

green branches
small pieces of dry branches
rope
black spray paint
any other spooky decoration bits you might like
glue gun

How to make it (full steps, although in Greek in the video above)

Weave the wreath as you would normally do.
Every once and a while use some rope to make sure it won’t tear.
Decorate with the dry branches
Spray paint the whole thing
After it’s dry, use the glue gun to glue spooky decoration.

Done!

You can also hang spiders, or other stuff.

How a kid’s drawing can make you change the deco! (part 2)

Part two! (if you haven’t read the first part, find it here )

So, where were we? Yes, so I was trying to find a spot for my nephews masterpieces. I thought about it and decided to put them above my home office. BUT it was a complete mess… so move A, I finally cleaned up the chaos and move B, started decorating. (all of these things happened in 3 hours on Thursday night)

Here it is. 🙂 In the center, above the screen you can see Leonardo.

The second one, the one with Jack Skellington, took its rightful place in the Tim Burton Display Cabinet.

You see, the home office is the first thing you see when you enter the house. So, when it’s a mess it messes you up too! And, since I am speaking about a messy and bad mood… After I was done with the home office and was so excited it about it, I suddenly turned around and saw…………………….

(well, when tidied up it looked OK but it was tidied up around 3 times a year…I don’t wanna lie to you, it had to go)

My decisions were fast (and a little furious). Remove the old hanger from behind the door. Paint wall half white. DIY simple bench. And placement of white little hangers on the black part of the wall. I started Friday night with the wall painting and was done with the whole project by Saturday evening. Not bad, right?

Apart from the fact that we now have more space, one of the advantages of this change is that I am forced to tidy up my stuff, and not just leave everything everywhere!

How a kid’s drawing can make you change the deco! (part 1)

All changes start from something small. At least my home changes. For example, I make a small deco item, then I don’t know where to put it and then I turn the house upside down just to find a place for my new item.

That’s exactly what happened with this project. All began with the idea I had of framing my nephews’ drawings. So, Yorgos is 6 years old, and he drew 2 things for me on the trip I took to New York a little while back (My brother lives there with his family).

Naturally the first drawing is Leonardo for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, HOW LONG IT TOOK ME TO WRITE THIS) and the second one is Jack Skellington from Nightmare before Christmas (that, I asked for – I showed him my tattoo and said “draw Jack for me!”)

I cut them with a pair of scissors roughly and stuck them on black background and then in a frame.

And after I made them and was so proud for my nephew I freaked. “NOW WHERE WILL I PUT THESE WORKS OF ART???”

The pinboard: TV, Netflix and decor

As many friends said on Facebook, “Netflix is here (Greece), Goodbye life”. So, if we are to become couch potatos, let’s do it in style. I have gathered for you tv furniture and in general wall units that include the “devil box”, also known as Television. No, it’s not that we’ll stop watching tv. We’ll be watching Netflix though, and this makes us less losers. 😛

1 – Ooohhh! Design furniture and all. I found it here, although it’s out of stock. If you are a DIYer though, you can try to make it.

2 – Half geek – Half intellectual. 2 in 1. Do you want to impress your friends? You shut the doors and say with pride “I don’t own a TV!”. Then your friends leave, your open the doors, you switch Netflix on FOREVER and never see your friends again. You send them a letter telling them you left for Machu Pichu and not to expect back soon.

3 – Wood & Cement The basics. After that you need a tv, connection to the web, a couch, a fridge and an account for e-food. You don’t have any friends. 😛

4 – I really like wood as a back ground (with or without the TV). Let’s see some implementations

5 – Ok, I only put this for fun because it’s really amazing but also really expensive! These rich guys from Copenhagen do cool stuff like this. I am sure that these people don’t have Netflix. Most probably they call the actors at their place for live performances.

6 – Here the TV is appreciated as art apparently. I think it’s a little confusing, but nice. Source here

This is Halloween

Τα έχουμε πει, το Just DIY αγαπά πολύ το Halloween. Όχι τόσο σε επίπεδο πάρτυ, φρικιαστικών στολών και λοιπά, όσο σε επίπεδο crafting και DIY. Οπότε, σε συνέχεια του περσινού ποστ για την ιδιαίτερη αυτή γιορτή, έτσι και φέτος είπα να φτιάξω κάτι 🙂

Είναι πάρα πολύ απλό και πάρα πολύ τρομακτικοοοοοο (ουυουουουουου μπαμπουυυλεεεες)

Θα χρειαστείς ένα γυάλινο βαζάκι και μαύρο πηλό σερνίτ.
